Halford, 1913

he handbook was the culmination of Halford's life's work and subsumes all his other books and is the definitive textbook of dry fly fishing of the period. Within its pages Halford sets out his entire philosophy of dry fly fishing, including his definitive list of dry fly patterns for the English chalk streams. The book ranges widely across many subjects, including how to make a fishery and the Halford's views on wet fly fishing. Like all of Halford's books, The Handbook is well written and it is impossible to read it without gaining respect for the author.
